Los Angeles Angels move on from Anthony Rendon contract
Following the conclusion of the 2026 MLB season, the Los Angeles Angels have officially removed third baseman Anthony Rendon’s contract from their books. Rendon had previously signed a seven-year, $245 million deal ahead of the 2020 season, which stood as the largest contract in franchise history excluding Mike Trout.
Throughout his tenure, Rendon struggled with injuries, appearing in only 58, 47, 43, and 57 games across the 2021 to 2024 seasons, respectively. Over 257 games with the Angels, he recorded a .717 OPS and 3.8 bWAR. The team is now looking to address roster deficiencies, specifically at third base, with free agent Alec Bohm emerging as a primary target to fill the vacancy.
