Los Angeles Chargers place Derwin James Jr. on injured reserve

The Los Angeles Chargers have officially placed safety Derwin James Jr. on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. The move follows a setback in his rehabilitation process, and he is expected to miss at least four games.

James, who is the highest-paid safety in the NFL, has not played since September 27. His absence comes as the Chargers struggle with a 0-6 start to the season. To address roster needs, the team signed cornerback Isas Waxter to the active roster and elevated cornerback Kaiir Elam from the practice squad.

Other injury updates for the Chargers include left guard Kayode Awosika, who will miss a fifth consecutive game with a leg injury, as well as defensive back Deane Leonard and wide receiver Brenen Thompson, who have both been ruled out.
