Los Angeles Chargers tackle Rashawn Slater manages knee flare-up
Los Angeles Chargers Pro Bowl left tackle Rashawn Slater has missed four consecutive practices due to a “little” flare-up in his surgically repaired left knee. Slater characterized the setback as “nothing crazy” and “nothing that’s concerning,” noting that he is being cautious while recovering from a major injury that caused him to miss the entire 2025 season.
The team does not plan to play Slater in their upcoming preseason opener against the Houston Texans, as the priority remains his availability for the regular-season opener on September 13 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Other notable Chargers developments include coaching adjustments by Jim Harbaugh, with Mike McDaniel and Chris O’Leary leading the offense and defense, respectively. In roster battles, sixth-round pick Branson Taylor is competing for the starting left guard position, while rookie safety Genesis Smith is noted for his potential to contribute immediately.
