Los Angeles County begins mailing ballots for 2026 election

Los Angeles County has begun mailing vote-by-mail ballots to all registered voters in preparation for the November 3, 2026, general election. Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean C. Logan encouraged voters to review their choices early and utilize various return methods, including over 400 official ballot drop boxes and local vote centers, which are scheduled to open on October 24.

Unregistered voters wishing to receive a ballot by mail must complete their registration by October 19. To ensure timely delivery, officials recommend returning ballots at least seven days before Election Day. The county also offers a ‘Where’s My Ballot?’ tracking tool.

The upcoming election includes several high-profile contests, most notably the Los Angeles mayoral race between incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and City Council member Nithya Raman. Additionally, voters will decide on various statewide and local measures, including eight local ballot measures concerning taxes and wildfire recovery. The election process comes amid ongoing debates regarding the security and verification of California’s vote-by-mail system.
