Los Angeles County breaks ground on Esperanza Village housing

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) has broken ground on Esperanza Village in El Monte. Located on the former site of MacLaren Hall, the development will include two housing projects providing over 200 units of affordable housing.

Approximately $8 million for the project is funded by No Place Like Home, with 44 units specifically funded by LACDMH. The department will oversee services for 44 residents to support recovery and stability. The site also features the newly opened Hilda L. Solis Community Park, which includes sports courts, playgrounds, and fitness zones. Construction is expected to be completed by 2028.
