Los Angeles County Superior Court warns of jury duty scam

The Los Angeles County Superior Court has issued a warning to residents regarding a jury duty scam. Scammers are contacting individuals via phone, email, or text message, falsely claiming that the recipient missed jury service and has an outstanding warrant for their arrest.

Court officials emphasized that the court will never contact residents to threaten arrest, demand immediate reporting to a courthouse, or request sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, credit card details, or bank information. Residents are advised not to click on links in suspicious messages or provide any personal or financial data to unsolicited callers.

To verify jury service status, individuals should use the official Los Angeles County Superior Court juror services website. Those targeted by these scams are encouraged to report the incidents to local law enforcement, the Superior Court, or the Federal Trade Commission.
