Los Angeles coyote euthanized after pellet gun injuries
A coyote named Wendy, a well-known figure in the Studio City area of Los Angeles, has been euthanized following the discovery of severe injuries caused by animal abuse.
Wildlife experts rescued the three-year-old coyote after months of tracking her following reports from local residents who noticed a large growth on her face. Upon examination, veterinarians discovered that Wendy had been shot with a pellet gun. Two pellets were found in her head, causing a severe infection and destroying part of her upper jaw.
Although rescuers initially hoped to treat her and release her back into the wild, the extent of the damage made survival impossible. Veterinarians determined that the jaw injuries would prevent her from eating properly, and the organization stated that keeping her alive would not be humane. The individual responsible for the shooting has not been identified.
