Los Angeles Dodgers face significant roster changes following postseason exit
Following a sweep by the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing for a major offseason. The team faces the potential departure of several key players, including two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, who is expected to seek a contract potentially exceeding $400 million. Other players facing free agency or uncertain futures include Alex Vesia, Brusdar Graterol, Kiké Hernández, and Blake Treinen.
Regarding individual player health, President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman confirmed that Shohei Ohtani will not undergo surgery for his recent knee and biceps issues, though the team will focus on managing his workload to support his return to two-way play in 2027. Conversely, catcher Dalton Rushing has undergone right elbow surgery and is expected to miss the start of the 2027 season.
On the organizational side, Friedman indicated a ‘status quo’ approach for the 2027 coaching staff despite criticisms of the team's performance. The front office is also tasked with addressing roster needs, such as finding younger lineup solutions to support aging stars like Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman, while managing the potential loss of veteran leadership following Miguel Rojas' retirement.
