Los Angeles Dodgers option Emmet Sheehan to Triple-A

The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan to Triple-A Oklahoma City. In a corresponding move, the team recalled Paul Gervase to the Major League roster ahead of a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Sheehan, who has struggled with command issues this season, was recently recalled to provide bullpen depth following Edwin Diaz being placed on the 15-day injured list with neck inflammation. During his 20-start tenure this season, Sheehan posted a 4-8 record with a 5.29 ERA. Manager Dave Roberts previously indicated that sending Sheehan to the minors would allow him to address mechanical issues and “reset” without the pressure of Major League performance.

Gervase joins the Dodgers for the fourth time this season. He currently holds a 2.35 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP in four appearances with the club this year.
