Los Angeles Dodgers activate Shohei Ohtani from injured list

Shohei Ohtani has returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup after a two-week stint on the injured list caused by right biceps inflammation and left knee soreness. In his first game back against the San Diego Padres, Ohtani batted second as the designated hitter, recording one hit in four at-bats. Manager Dave Roberts noted Ohtani’s health has improved significantly, describing his condition as an “eight or a nine” on a scale of ten.

To accommodate Ohtani’s return, the Dodgers optioned top prospect Josue De Paula to Triple-A Oklahoma City. While De Paula has performed well, the team is evaluating his role for the upcoming postseason.

In separate news, Yoshinobu Yamamoto completed his regular season with a start against the Padres, pitching six innings and allowing four runs. Despite the outing, Yamamoto finished the season with a 2.53 ERA and 14 wins.
