Diamondbacks Complete First Dodgers Sweep at Dodger Stadium Since 2017

Arizona finished a three‑game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, the first sweep there since September 2017. The series ended with victories of 5‑3, 9‑3 and 5‑3. Ildemaro Vargas delivered a go‑ahead single in the sixth inning of the opening game, while Tim Tawa supplied home runs and four RBIs in the second and third contests. Shohei Ohtani opened the series with a leadoff homer, but defensive lapses – a dropped fly by Andy Pages and an errant throw by Max Muncy that hit Geraldo Perdomo – produced unearned runs that helped Arizona erase early deficits. The Diamondbacks improved to 49‑47, remaining within 11½ games of the league‑leading Dodgers, who entered the All‑Star break with a 61‑36 record despite the sloppy finish. Ohtani’s left‑knee irritation will keep him out of the All‑Star Game, and the Dodgers’ recent error surge (nine errors in five games) has raised concerns about their defense heading into the second half.
