Los Angeles FC defeats Club Queretaro in Leagues Cup shootout

Los Angeles FC (LAFC) secured a 5-3 shootout victory over Mexico’s Club Queretaro at BMO Stadium to conclude their opening phase of the Leagues Cup. The match featured a comeback from the MLS side after Queretaro took an early lead with a header from Ali Avila in the 12th minute.

LAFC equalized through Denis Bouanga following an assist from Son Heung-min. After the regulation period ended, Son Heung-min successfully converted a penalty during the shootout to help LAFC secure the win.

With this result, LAFC finishes the first round with seven points, placing them third among the MLS teams in the tournament standings. Their advancement to the knockout stage depends on the results of upcoming matches involving Austin FC and Chicago Fire FC.
