Los Angeles FC signs Ecuadorian midfielder Sergio Vásquez
Los Angeles FC (LAFC) has officially announced the signing of Ecuadorian midfielder Sergio Vásquez from Orense SC. The 22-year-old joins the Major League Soccer (MLS) club on a contract that runs through the 2029-2030 season, with an option to extend his stay until 2030-2031.
The transfer agreement stipulates that LAFC has acquired 70% of the player's economic rights, while Orense SC will retain the remaining 30%. Vásquez, a versatile player capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or on the flanks, developed through the Orense youth academy and made his professional debut in the Ecuadorian top flight following his participation in the 2022 Copa Libertadores Sub-20.
During his tenure with Orense, Vásquez appeared in approximately 91 matches, recording 5 goals and 7 assists. He will occupy an international roster spot for LAFC and is expected to be registered under the U22 Initiative, pending the receipt of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.
