Los Angeles Fire Department rescues driver trapped in Pacific Palisades truck crash

On July 30, 2024, a flatbed truck collided with a vacant one‑story commercial building at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Chautauqua Boulevard in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles. The driver was trapped inside the cab. Approximately 35 Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded, employing hydraulic rescue tools and the Jaws of Life to cut the cab and free the driver. The operation lasted nearly two hours, with the driver extracted around 1:25 p.m., found alert and talking, and then transported by ambulance to a local hospital; his condition was not disclosed. No other injuries were reported, and the building was empty at the time of the crash. The Los Angeles Police Department, other law‑enforcement agencies, and the Department of Transportation coordinated road closures and traffic management at the scene.
