Los Angeles Kings forward Kevin Fiala to miss training camp after surgery

The Los Angeles Kings will begin their training camp without forward Kevin Fiala, who recently underwent follow-up surgery on his lower body. The injury stems from a leg fracture sustained during the Milan and Cortina Olympics following a collision with Tom Wilson.

While the team has not provided a specific timeline for his recovery, it is expected that Fiala will be sidelined for at least a month or two. Fiala, 30, recorded 40 points in 56 games last season and is considered a key component of the Kings' top-six forward group.

Speculation has emerged regarding potential replacements for Fiala during his absence. Unrestricted free agent Patrik Laine has been linked to the team, with reports suggesting the Kings previously expressed interest in him during the March trade deadline. A tryout agreement could allow Laine to showcase his skills for a new NHL contract while the team assesses Fiala’s recovery progress.
