Los Angeles Lakers begin NBA preseason with Luka Dončić as centerpiece

The Los Angeles Lakers are beginning their NBA preseason with a significantly restructured roster. Following a period of transition, the team enters a new era centered around Luka Dončić, who has taken on the role of the franchise's primary protagonist.

General Manager Rob Pelinka described Dončić as “the best offensive player in the world,” noting that the organization is focused on building a competitive team around him. The Lakers have added eight players through free agency and trades to refresh the squad. Head coach JJ Redick expressed optimism regarding the roster construction, stating, “I feel like the pieces really fit for the first time in three years.”

Dončić, alongside returning guard Austin Reaves, is expected to serve as the core of the team. The preseason period will allow the coaching staff to evaluate the new roster and finalize starting positions.
