Los Angeles Lakers navigate roster changes amid undefeated start

The Los Angeles Lakers have begun the 2026-27 NBA season with a 3-0 record, though the organization is managing several roster adjustments and injury concerns. Rookie Cameron Carr has been assigned to the G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, as he continues to recover from an oblique injury.

Internal discussions regarding the roster have highlighted potential weaknesses, specifically at the backup center position. Insider Jovan Buha noted that veteran Kevon Looney may struggle defensively against playoff-level competition due to concerns over his foot speed. Additionally, trade speculation has surfaced regarding Bronny James following a slow start to the season, with suggestions that the team could use him as an asset to acquire frontcourt depth.

On the developmental front, the Coachella Valley Lakers have been active following the G League Draft, participating in trades involving the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks affiliates to finalize their roster.
