Los Angeles Lakers power forward starting role remains contested
Ziaire Williams has emerged as the frontrunner for the Los Angeles Lakers’ starting power forward position following the preseason. Williams, who entered training camp on a veteran minimum contract, has impressed coach JJ Redick with his defensive capabilities, shooting, and leadership.
In his two preseason starts, Williams averaged 13.5 points and demonstrated efficiency by making all five of his three-point attempts. However, the competition for the role remains active, as teammates Jake LaRavia and Sandro Mamukelashvili have also made strong cases through improved perimeter shooting and positional versatility, respectively.
