Los Angeles Lakers sign Meechie Johnson and Chase Ross

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guards Meechie Johnson and Chase Ross to Exhibit 10 contracts ahead of training camp. Both players entered the league as undrafted free agents.

Johnson, a former guard for Ohio State and South Carolina, averaged 17.2 points and 4.3 assists during his final collegiate season. Ross, a 6-foot-4 guard from Marquette, previously appeared in three Summer League games for the Lakers and earned Big East All-Defensive honors.

Neither player is expected to make the Lakers' opening-night roster. They will likely be waived and directed toward the Coachella Valley Lakers, the team's G League affiliate. If they spend at least 60 days with the affiliate, they can earn an Exhibit 10 bonus of up to $91,000.
