Los Angeles Lakers sign Rafael Castro, waive William Kyle III
The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Rafael Castro to an Exhibit 10 contract and waived forward/center William Kyle III.
Castro, a 23-year-old 6’10” big man, joins the team after being waived by the Houston Rockets. During his final collegiate season at George Washington University, Castro averaged 15.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. He was a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team selection and a finalist for the Lefty Driesell National Defensive Player of the Year Award.
William Kyle III, a Syracuse product, appeared in three preseason games for the Lakers before being waived. The move comes as the Lakers look to manage their roster depth ahead of the regular season. Head coach JJ Redick noted that while the team is showing positive signs during the preseason, he is looking for more consistency in player health.
