Los Angeles Lakers' trade pursuit of Pelicans center Yves Missi stalls

The Los Angeles Lakers have been among several NBA teams reaching out to the New Orleans Pelicans about acquiring 22‑year‑old center Yves Missi. Missi, a former Baylor standout, was named to the NBA All‑Rookie Team in 2024‑25 and posted modest numbers in his sophomore season (5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks per game). Despite his reported frustration with reduced minutes in New Orleans, the Pelicans have resisted all offers, including the Lakers’ request.

The Pelicans’ stance comes amid a crowded frontcourt featuring Zion Williamson, rookie forward Derik Queen and other prospects, limiting Missi’s role. With other potential targets such as Walker Kessler, Kel’el Ware, Jalen Duren, Nic Claxton and Mitchell Robinson also facing trade or contract hurdles, the Lakers’ options at center are narrowing.
