Los Angeles officials provide updates on Lineage warehouse fire cleanup

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will host a community forum on Thursday to provide updates regarding the cleanup of the Lineage warehouse fire site in Boyle Heights. The meeting aims to address the status of the cleanup and provide resources for residents, workers, and small businesses affected by the incident, which occurred on June 17.

Lineage Logistics reported that approximately 92% of the food waste has been removed from the site, with a goal to complete bulk removal by the end of the week to meet a 45-day deadline. The fire caused significant issues for local communities, including persistent odors, pests, and smoke.

Separately, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) released a report stating that schools near the warehouse are safe for occupancy. While smoke and odors were detected following the fire, the district’s Office of Environmental Health and Safety found no widespread contamination requiring region-wide remediation, concluding that campuses do not pose health hazards to students or staff.
