Los Angeles Police Pursue Stolen Mercedes SUV in High-Speed Chase

On July 29, 2026, Los Angeles police chased a white Mercedes‑Benz SUV that police believed had been stolen in the Laguna Beach area. The pursuit began on the 405 Freeway near Culver Boulevard, continued onto surface streets in Del Rey, and later on Slauson Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood, where the driver ran red lights and entered oncoming lanes.

Around five minutes into the chase, the SUV merged onto the northbound 110 Freeway and was closely followed by nearly a dozen dirt‑bike riders performing wheelies. The suspect, who may have been armed with a handgun, eventually entered a downtown parking garage at Hill and Eighth streets. Officers sealed off the area and began a search for the driver.
