Former Los Angeles Rams cornerback LeRoy Irvin died at age 68 after a long battle with throat cancer. Irvin was a two‑time Pro Bowl selection and earned All‑Pro honors in 1981 and 1986, recording 34‑35 career interceptions and 11 non‑offensive touchdowns for the Rams, a franchise record. He also holds the Rams’ punt‑return record, amassing 207 yards with two touchdowns in a single game in 1981.

Irvin played ten seasons with the Rams (1980–1990) after being drafted in the third round, then finished his career with the Detroit Lions in 1990. He was remembered by former teammate and Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson, who called Irvin “a true friend and a great man.” The Rams issued a statement mourning his loss and extending condolences to his family and friends.
