Los Angeles region roadway projects cause traffic disruptions

Major roadway improvement and rehabilitation projects are underway across several areas in the Los Angeles region, including West Hollywood, West Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Echo Park.

In West Hollywood, a Street Rehabilitation Project involves resurfacing work on Santa Monica Boulevard and Doheny Road. On Doheny Road, pavement removal and paving are scheduled for late August. On Santa Monica Boulevard, nighttime crews will adjust utility covers, followed by survey work and the installation of traffic-detection loops in early September. Drivers should anticipate lane closures and parking restrictions.

Simultaneously, Caltrans is conducting a $70.2 million project to improve State Route 2, extending from Santa Monica to Echo Park. This work includes curb, gutter, and sidewalk construction. Overnight closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. will affect Santa Monica Boulevard in West Los Angeles and Hollywood, as well as Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park. While parking will be restricted, Caltrans stated that business driveways will remain accessible during the construction period.
