Los Angeles Sparks fire head coach Lynne Roberts

The Los Angeles Sparks have fired head coach Lynne Roberts following the conclusion of the 2026 WNBA season. Roberts’ tenure lasted two seasons, during which she compiled a combined record of approximately 36-49, failing to lead the team to the playoffs in either year.

The decision follows a 16-28 season that ended with a one-point loss to the Golden State Valkyries. The Sparks have now missed the playoffs for seven consecutive seasons. Roberts’ tenure was marked by significant roster turnover and injuries, including the mid-season trade of guard Kelsey Plum to the Phoenix Mercury after she missed 12 games due to a leg injury.

Sparks special advisor Farhan Zaidi expressed gratitude for Roberts’ commitment and dedication to the players and the organization. The franchise, currently led by general manager Ariana Andonian, will now begin a search for a new head coach to oversee the development of its young core.
