Los Angeles water pipe burst floods Beverly Grove neighborhood

An eight‑inch cast‑iron water pipe ruptured early Sunday morning in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles, near the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Lindenhurst Avenue. The break sent water rushing onto the street, forcing the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to shut off service to about ten customers and close San Vicente Boulevard between Lindenhurst and Orlando Avenues.

Crews from LADWP arrived shortly after the incident was first reported at 4:48 a.m., worked through the morning and restored service by about 2:30 p.m. No injuries were reported. The flooding follows a series of recent pipe failures across the city, including a major July 16 break in West Hollywood that released millions of gallons of water. LADWP said it is accelerating the replacement of aging trunk lines, many of which are over 80 years old and approaching a century of service.
