Los Cabos implements water storage aid and drone surveillance
The Los Cabos City Council has implemented several local initiatives to address community needs and environmental protection. In Cabo San Lucas, the Municipal Directorate of Citizen Attention distributed 15 water tanks to families to improve domestic water storage capabilities. This follows previous distributions of water tanks and food aid to meet community requests.
Simultaneously, the municipality is enhancing environmental surveillance to combat illegal waste dumping in rural areas, ravines, and streams. The Directorate of Ecology and Environment, in collaboration with Los Cabos International Airport, will utilize drones to monitor large territories. Officials warned that illegal dumping can result in fines ranging from 30,000 to 60,000 pesos, in addition to vehicle impoundment and potential legal detention. The drone strategy aims to protect local ecosystems and the region's tourism image by detecting unauthorized waste disposal more efficiently.
