Los Cabos Mayor granted another 10-day leave of absence

Los Cabos Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez has been granted another 10-day temporary leave of absence by the city council. This marks at least the sixth time Agúndez has stepped away from his duties this year.

During these absences, First Councilman José Manuel Larumbe Pineda serves as the acting mayor. While the municipal government stated the arrangement ensures institutional continuity, no specific reason for this latest leave was publicly disclosed.

Reports indicate that Agúndez’s frequent absences have coincided with his participation in Morena’s internal processes to define the party’s state coordinator for Baja California Sur, ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race.
