Los Castillejos military camp faces decay and abandonment
The former Los Castillejos military camp in Arbolí, located within the Muntanyes de Prades, remains in a state of advanced decay and abandonment. Established in 1950, the 645-hectare site once served as a significant military enclave capable of housing up to 6,000 soldiers, including university militias.
Despite being acquired by the Generalitat over 20 years ago, the site lacks a defined purpose and continues to suffer from looting and degradation. While there have been aspirations for the area to host the headquarters of the future Muntanyes de Prades Natural Park, the facilities currently consist of empty warehouses and open pavilions. The property has been under the management of Incasòl since 2003.
