Los Colochos bridge expansion project set to begin in Zarcero
The Los Colochos bridge expansion project over the Zarcero River is scheduled to begin construction between late September and early November. The project, part of the PROERI program, involves a $4 million investment to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
Local authorities and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) will hold socialization meetings with residents in September to discuss the project and its impact. The expansion will include two lanes and pedestrian walkways. To manage traffic during construction, an alternative route for light vehicles has been established, while a Bailey bridge will be used exclusively for heavy vehicles and emergency services. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
