Los Lagos firefighters trained in electric vehicle emergency protocols
The Los Lagos Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Energy has implemented training programs for firefighters to enhance emergency response protocols regarding electric vehicles. The initiative aims to address the challenges posed by the growing development of electromobility in the region.
Fifty volunteers from Puerto Montt, Puerto Varas, and Los Muermos participated in specialized courses. These included ‘Electromobility Security Protocols’ provided by INACAP Puerto Montt and ‘Safety and Emergency Care in Electric Vehicles’ led by DUOC UC Puerto Montt. The training combined theoretical and practical modules covering risk assessment, response procedures, and technical competency strengthening.
Andrés Niklitschek, the Regional Ministerial Secretary of Energy for Los Lagos, emphasized that safety is essential for the energy transition. He noted that strengthening emergency response capabilities for new technologies is a key component of the ‘Energy Route 2026-2030’ to build a more sustainable and secure energy system.
