Los Lagos Region survey highlights security, health, and employment concerns

The tenth Gente del Sur–USS Public Opinion Survey reveals that security, public health, and employment have emerged as the primary concerns for residents of Chile’s Los Lagos Region. Security remains the top issue with 65.3% of mentions, closely followed by public health at 63.8% and employment at 63.6%.

Regarding the economy, 58.1% of respondents describe the regional situation as regular. Key obstacles to regional development include bureaucracy and permits (61.4%), a lack of private investment (60%), and low public investment (55.9%). The study also highlights significant personal costs related to health, with 82.6% of citizens having paid for private medical care.

In terms of safety, 66.3% of residents reported changing their habits due to security concerns, including avoiding nighttime outings and modifying schedules. Institutional trust remains high for firefighters (89.2%) and police forces, while political parties and parliamentarians received very low levels of confidence.
