Los Mochis begins weekly fumigation to combat dengue
The Ahome Municipal Health Directorate has announced a weekly fumigation schedule in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, to combat the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue. The campaign begins Monday, October 19, in the 10 de Mayo and Alfonso G. Calderón sectors.
Health Director María Isabel Astorga Soto detailed a rotating schedule for various neighborhoods throughout the week, including Rubén Jaramillo, Jardín, San Francisco, Libertad, and others, concluding on October 24. Residents are advised to leave doors and windows open during the evening to allow insecticide to enter homes.
In addition to fumigation, authorities are emphasizing 'descacharrización'—the removal of standing water and debris—to eliminate breeding sites. This follows a year in which the region has recorded approximately 200 dengue cases.
