Los Mochis launches National Youth Baseball Tournament
The National Youth Baseball Tournament (Nuevos Valores) for the 11‑12 age category opened on Tuesday in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Thirty‑one teams from six Mexican states—Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Mexico City and Sinaloa—gathered at the Marco Antonio Sánchez stadium in the Unidad Deportiva Infantil y de Softbol.
The ceremony honored the late Sebastián Pinales Ávila. Mayor Antonio Menéndez was represented by councilor María Esther Robles, who declared the opening. Sports institute director José Pablo García Cota swore in the participants, and the first ball was pitched by García Cota, with Robles batting and other local officials taking catcher and umpire roles. The event aims to promote baseball development in northern Mexico and offer young athletes a competitive platform during the vacation period.
