Los Nevados National Natural Park offers unique natural landscapes in Colombia
Los Nevados National Natural Park, located in Colombia's coffee region, features diverse ecosystems including high-altitude wetlands, forests, and paramos. One notable, lesser-known site within the park is the ‘Beso de los Simios’ (Monkey's Kiss), a rock formation near the El Jordán farm that resembles two primates with a waterfall flowing between them.
Reaching this site requires a 16-kilometer trek starting from El Cedral, which typically takes approximately six hours. The park is part of a volcanic complex that includes the Ruiz, Santa Isabel, and Tolima snow-capped peaks. These ecosystems are vital for providing water to millions of people.
In the nearby Quindío department, tourism efforts are focused on regional recovery following a recent earthquake. Local attractions include coffee culture experiences, such as the Recuca tour in Calarcá, which allows visitors to participate in traditional coffee harvesting and post-harvest processes.
