Los Ángeles police arrest two men for pension fraud attempt

Police in Los Ángeles, Chile, arrested two men following an attempted fraud targeting an elderly man. The victim had just withdrawn his pension from the Caja de Compensación Los Héroes when he was followed and approached by the suspects using a common scam known as ‘Cuento del tío’.

Carabineros, aided by surveillance cameras, apprehended the suspects, identified as 52-year-old V. H. G. L. and 62-year-old H. N. N. E., at the intersection of Lautaro and Mendoza streets. While the suspects have extensive criminal records, they were released following their hearing at the Los Ángeles Guarantee Court, pending future summons.
