Los Pumas face Wales in San Juan, sparking local rugby boost

Argentina’s national rugby team, Los Pumas, will play Wales on Saturday, 11 July, at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario. The match marks the historic debut of the Nations Championship 2026 and coincides with the FIFA World Cup period.

Governor Marcelo Orrego and provincial officials said ticket sales through local clubs will channel all proceeds into infrastructure, training programmes and social projects for youth rugby in San Juan. The event also includes a “Semana Puma” with coaching clinics and youth activities aimed at strengthening the sport’s grassroots base.
