Los Pumas gear up for Wales in San Juan with lineup tweaks and fan events

From July 8 to July 11, Argentina’s national rugby team, Los Pumas, will host a series of community activities in San Juan ahead of their Nations Championship match against Wales on July 11. The agenda includes training sessions, visits to local clubs, technical workshops and youth rugby events organized in partnership with World Rugby, aimed at promoting the sport throughout the province.

Coach Felipe Contepomi has announced five changes to the starting XV for the encounter, bringing in Boris Wenger, Tomás Rapetti, Marcos Kremer and others to strengthen the scrum and defensive work. He also retained three Tucumán‑born players—Gonzalo García, Tomás Albornoz and Mateo Carreras. The coach stressed the need for greater intensity and cohesion after a loss to Scotland.

Players such as Rodrigo Isgro, Joaquín Moro and Tomás Rapetti spoke about correcting last week’s shortcomings, improving contact and defence, and the advantage of playing in front of a supportive San Juan crowd. Contepomi added that Wales will be a combative opponent, and the Pumas aim to deliver a win.
