Los Pumas lose to England, prepare for upcoming fixtures

Argentina's rugby side, Los Pumas, were beaten 31‑24 by England at the Nations Championship match in Santiago del Estero, marking their sixth consecutive loss to the English team and their first defeat in that Argentine city. The game saw a late controversy when Argentine wing Tomás Albornoz was ruled not to have grounded the ball for a potential penalty try.

Former Pumas player and coach Mauricio Reggiardo criticised the squad's discipline, saying Argentina "mishandled its frustration" after the loss and urging players to preserve the sport's values. The comment follows a broader discussion about the historic rivalry between the two nations.

Coach Felipe Contepomi’s side will now focus on a dense calendar. Home fixtures are scheduled against South Africa on 8 August at José Amalfitani Stadium, followed by two matches versus Australia on 29 August and 5 September in Jujuy and Mendoza. In November, the team heads to Europe for a four‑match tour, facing Ireland in Dublin, Italy in Genoa, France in Paris, and concluding with the Nations Championship finals in London.
