Los Pumas rugby players discuss season preparation and player development

The Los Pumas 7s team has begun preparations for the upcoming Seven Series season, using the South American Games as a key competitive stepping stone. Player Santiago Álvarez Fourcade noted that the team intends to field its primary squad in the South American tournament to build rhythm and match fitness, addressing previous challenges where the team lacked competitive preparation before major stages.

Álvarez Fourcade reflected on the previous season, describing it as a successful period of player renewal where new members integrated quickly, resulting in several finals. He emphasized the need for continued work to improve team cohesion.

Separately, former player Santiago González Iglesias has praised the development of fly-half Tomás Albornoz. Describing Albornoz as a ‘super conductor,’ González Iglesias highlighted the player's technical ability, defensive play, and tactical intelligence in reading the game, noting his significant role in the team's offensive construction under coach Felipe Contepomi.
