Los Ríos Region placed on preventive alert for tornadic winds

The National Service for Prevention and Response to Disasters (SENAPRED) has maintained a preventive early warning alert for the Los Ríos Region due to an incoming meteorological event.

According to the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC), weather warnings indicate the probable development of convective clouds with tornadic characteristics. These may cause intense local and tornadic winds, particularly in coastal and valley sectors. Additionally, forecasts suggest probable electrical storms across the coast, coastal range, valleys, and mountain areas.

While the National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN) reports that the risk of mass movements such as landslides or rockfalls remains low, SENAPRED will continue monitoring and coordinating with the National System for Prevention and Response to Disasters (SINAPRED) to ensure an adequate response to any emergencies.
