Los Tres Brazos land scandal case dismissed by court
The second chamber of the National District Court of Appeals has confirmed the extinction of the legal proceedings in the Los Tres Brazos scandal. This decision involves allegations regarding the irregular sale of land in the Santo Domingo Este neighborhood.
The ruling orders the cessation of all coercive measures against former Corde director Leoncio Almánzar and several other defendants, including Manuel Aybar Ferreras, Juana Inés, Julio César and Carlos Aris Gómez Williams, Domingo Geraldo Lebrón, and Irving Cruz Crespo.
Judges justified the decision by calculating the duration of the process from the first coercive measure imposed on July 31, 2018. They determined that more than eight years have passed without an acquittal or conviction. While the case is expected to be appealed in cassation, the defendants have secured two favorable rulings due to these procedural timelines.
