Jurassic Park: Lost animated series pitch footage surfaces online

Newly discovered footage from a cancelled 1993 animated series, titled “Escape from Jurassic Park”, has surfaced online. The project was intended to be a mature, prime-time follow-up to Steven Spielberg’s original film, rather than a show aimed solely at children.

The proposed series was developed by Universal Cartoon Studios and featured a visual style that combined traditional 2D animation with early CGI. The production was overseen by animator Will Meugniot, with character and dinosaur designs contributed by artist William Stout. While a 23-episode first season had been outlined, the project never progressed beyond the development stage, and no full episodes were ever completed.

The pitch material, which includes a one-minute teaser, was recently shared by the account Jurassic Library on X. Despite some online speculation regarding the authenticity of the footage, the fan site Jurassic Outpost has reportedly verified the material against previously known production assets. The series would have featured returning characters such as John Hammond, Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcolm, and Tim and Lex Murphy.
