Mexico's National Lottery releases commemorative football legends tickets
The National Lottery of Mexico (Lotería Nacional) unveiled a series of commemorative lottery tickets titled “Leyendas del Futbol” during a presentation in Mexico City on 4 August 2026. The tickets, featuring images of 24 former national‑team players such as Francisco Javier “El Abuelo” Cruz, Fernando Quirarte “El Sheriff”, Jorge Campos and Luis Roberto Alves, were introduced by lottery director Olivia Salomón, CONADE head Rommel Pacheco Marrufo and former World‑Cup coordination chief Gabriela Cuevas Barron.
The series will be part of Sorteo Superior No. 2893, which offers a top prize of 17 million pesos and a total prize pool of 51 million pesos, with the draw scheduled for Friday 7 August 2026. Officials highlighted the initiative’s aim to honor the players’ contributions to Mexican football and to inspire children and youth across the country.
The commemorative tickets serve both as a tribute to the sport’s history and as a promotional vehicle for the lottery, linking national pride with the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada.
