Lotha stakeholders reject ACVA meeting and issue ultimatum to Wokha administration
Stakeholders from the Lotha Lower Range and Lotha Middle Range in Wokha have rejected a meeting called by the All Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA) scheduled for October 8. During a joint consultative meeting held at Merapani Village Council Hall on October 6, various civil society organisations resolved that they will not participate in any discussions regarding the current dispute unless such meetings are formally convened and supervised by the Wokha district administration.
The stakeholders have issued a six-day ultimatum to the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, seeking immediate intervention against what they describe as the “illegal notification and imposition of blockade” on commercial vehicles from other states and non-locals by the ACVA.
If the administration does not address the issue within six days, the groups warned they may be compelled to take independent action, which could include a “blanket ban on all commercial vehicles of Wokha town” beyond the Doyang Bridge at Thillong Village. An Action Committee will be formed to safeguard the interests of the affected stakeholders.
