Loto 6/49 winner claims record 52.8 million lei prize

A 59-year-old medical pensioner from Oradea has claimed the largest prize in the history of the Loto 6/49 game. The winning ticket, purchased for 8.50 lei, was part of the August 13 draw.

The gross prize amount is 52,839,623.04 lei, which is approximately 10.07 million euros. After taxes, the winner will receive approximately 31,718,723.82 lei, equivalent to about 6 million euros. The winner chose her numbers randomly after entering a lottery agency by chance.

The winner, who has chosen to keep her identity private, described the win as a “miracle” and a “blessing” that will allow her to start her life over.
