Lotte Department Store begins Jamsil branch food hall renewal
Lotte Department Store has announced the commencement of a large-scale renewal of the food hall in the main building of its Jamsil branch, starting on the 26th. This project marks the first major step in a broader plan to renovate the entire main building and is the first comprehensive overhaul of the food hall in ten years.
The renewal aims to create a ‘luxury gourmet specialized hall’ spanning approximately 3,400 pyeong, with a scheduled completion in the first half of 2028. The space will be divided into two distinct zones: ‘EATS,’ designed for customers seeking direct dining experiences with global gourmet brands and exclusive menus, and ‘BUY,’ focused on purchasing premium food content, high-end ingredients, and curated food gifts.
The design is being handled by Roman and Williams, a U.S.-based design studio known for its work with the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The phased rollout will include a dessert specialty zone and a premium supermarket next year, followed by the full dining space in 2028. This initiative follows strong financial performance at the Jamsil location, which has seen annual sales exceed 3 trillion won and is projected to surpass 4 trillion won this year.
