Lotte Kopecky wins ninth track world title in Shanghai

Belgian cyclist Lotte Kopecky concluded her 2026 season by securing a new world title in track cycling. Following a year of mixed results on the road, Kopecky found success at the World Track Cycling Championships in Shanghai, where she won the elimination race, defeating Yumi Kajihara of Japan and Megan Jastrab of the United States.

This victory marked Kopecky’s ninth track world title. Her season included a win at Milan-Sanremo and a stage victory and green jersey in the Vuelta Femenina, though she finished outside the podium in the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. She is currently vacationing in Shanghai with her husband, Axel Merckx.
