Lotte Kopecky wins third consecutive scratch world title
Belgian cyclist Lotte Kopecky secured her third consecutive world title in the scratch race at the Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai. Despite a race interruption caused by a crash involving Yumi Kajihara, Kopecky maintained a strong tactical position and finished with the gold medal.
During the omnium competition, Kopecky narrowly avoided a major crash that affected more than half of the peloton. While Kopecky remained upright, defending champion Lorena Wiebes was forced to withdraw from the race following the incident. Kopecky finished 17th in the scratch portion of the omnium, impacting her overall points standing.
In the team pursuit qualifications, the Belgian women's team finished in tenth place, resulting in their elimination from the event.
